Start indoors: Sow seeds about 1/4 inch deep 8–12 weeks before your final frost date. Maintain roughly 80–85°F soil temperature and even moisture without leaving the mix waterlogged.
Build strength: Move seedlings under strong light as soon as they emerge, pot up after they develop true leaves, and keep airflow moving. Superhot varieties can take their time germinating, so do not declare the mission lost just because they refuse to move on your schedule.
Advance outside: Harden plants off gradually for 7–10 days, then transplant after cold nights have passed into full sun and well-draining soil. Water consistently, feed responsibly, and support heavy plants before they ask.
